National Coordinator of Ikpoto Akwa Ibom, a foremost
socio-political group in the state, Mr. Nsima Uwak, has described the Leader of
the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, as God’s next will for
the state.
Uwak, who stated this while speaking with reporters at the
weekend in his country home, expressed optimism that Etteh will eventually
succeed Governor Godswill Akpabio in 2015, saying “Etteh is the only
detribalized, focused and committed aspirant at the moment.”
Describing Etteh as a complete party man, Uwak said only a
party man will run a government that will deliver on the party’s manifestoes.
According to Uwak, “Etteh has paid his dues in the politics
of the state and remains the longest serving legislator in the state, whose
interest is the generality of Akwa Ibom people.”
“As an Ibeno man whose ancestry has a close relationship to
the people of Oron; with a mother who is Ibibio and a wife who is Annang, Etteh
stands taller than all other aspirants when it comes to the ethnic question on
the run up to 2015 elections. He sees all part of the state as part of himself
and, therefore, is not toeing any tribal line in the contest,” he maintained.
He also said God needs that kind of person to confound the
proponent of tribal politics in the state who unites a disunited state by 2015,
adding “I believe it is only Etteh’s election as Governor that will unify all
tribes and tongues in the state.”
“God is not a God of confusion. He needs his people to be
united. The confusion caused by ethnic bigots is not good for the state. We
need a real and practical detribalized leader in the mould of Etteh.”
Uwak further said, as a home grown politician, Etteh is in
touch with the grassroots and knows what is good for the people and will work
hard to impact positively on their lives in 2015
